We all know that many people these days are plagued by less hair and hair extensions become a great option to thicken your hair and give you confidence. However, for your hair to look as good as it did in the salon, you need to take good care of them at home. It’s important to make sure you have a strict follow-up care routine in place that will help extend the life of your extensions – after all, hair extensions can be costly. So, as your personal guardian angel for hair extensions, we’re here to guide you through some hair care tips that you can do at home too!
1. Find a professional hair stylist to install your hair extensions
Always make sure that your hair extensions are installed by a professional who has been trained in that hair extension method. Improper installation can lead to damage to your natural hair and leave you with hair that doesn’t look as good as you expect.

2. Wash your extensions properly
For the shampoo and conditioner you use to wash your hair, we always strongly recommend that you purchase the products recommended by your hair extensions technician. They need to contain the right ingredients to not only keep your extensions in good condition, but also to allow your natural hair to continue to grow in a healthy way. This means avoiding products that contain ingredients such as sulfates and alcohol, which can excessively remove your hair’s natural oils, making your hair more susceptible to becoming dull and shiny. You can check product formulations to avoid this
In addition, we recommend that you wash your hair in the shower and let the water run down your hair. This will prevent your hair from tangling. It is important to note that leaving the conditioner anywhere near the roots may cause the extensions to start slipping out of the hair, thus making them last much less time. Also, try using warm water rather than scorching hot water, as this will again remove the natural oils from the hair and scalp.
3. Keep extensions dry while you sleep
When caring for your extensions, never sleep with wet hair or your extensions will slip off at the roots as a result.
Your hair is at its most fragile when wet, which means that tossing and turning while you sleep can cause damage to your natural locks and extensions. It can also cause tangles, which can pull your hair even if you take extra care to comb through the tangles.
4. Brush your hair extensions carefully
This will be an important part of your daily life. As an example, when you brush your natural hair hard, you will see the hair start to fall out. In the same way, you need to be careful with your extensions. First, you need to buy a good quality brush – we recommend that you take advice from your hair stylist. Then, you need to brush your hair in the same order you started it and then comb it upwards. This will minimize damage to your scalp and extensions. We recommend that you brush at least once in the morning before you go to bed.
5. Don’t overheat your hair
Hair extensions can be damaged when you overheat them. Since all of our hair extensions are made using human hair, they cannot withstand excessive temperatures. Normally at home we use a hairdryer to dry our hair, please keep the temperature as low as possible. Also when you use a curling iron to style your hair extensions, avoid applying too high a temperature. We also recommend not using a curling iron at least one day a week to give your hair a good rest.
6. Separate bonds daily
You will need to spend a few minutes each day separating your bonds. Simply use your fingers to feel each bond and then check to see if none of the bonds have started to tangle. If there are, carefully try to separate them or use a small brush or comb to do so. This will effectively extend the life of your hair expansion.
